Lions Brisbane West

Lions Brisbane West is part of the largest service organisation in the world. Lions commenced in the USA in 1917 by Melvin Jones who saw the need to help his local community. The first Club in Australia was started in Lismore in 1947. Lions Brisbane West commenced in 1979.

As a Lions Club, we continue to help, in kind and financially, in every way that is possible for us to do so. We donate to our community, across Queensland and at times across Australia and Internationally. Since 2000 the Ipswich Scenic 100 has raised $1.4M and we are pushing to raise more. The Lions Clubs of Ipswich, Boonah, Harrisville, Rosewood and Fassifern assist with the organisation of the event and we make a donation to each of them which is used in their communities.

Our partnership with Bicycle Queensland is great for our Club and the event as BQ is professional and passionate about promoting riding. We would not be able to raise any funds without the invaluable support of Bicycle Queensland, Partners, Supporters and you the Riders.

Bicycle Queensland

Bicycle Queensland is the State’s leading voice for people who ride, working to make riding safer, easier and more accessible for all Queenslanders. Our member proposition is simple: giving riders peace of mind worldwide, advocating for a safer and accessible riding network and growing a community which champions riding for transport, recreation and sport.

We work with Governments, communities and partners across Queensland to improve riding conditions, deliver events and projects and help more people discover the benefits of getting around by bike. Our members make this work possible, strengthening our voice and supporting our vision of more Queenslanders riding more often.

Through partnerships with organisations such as Lions Brisbane West, we can connect more riders with great cycling experiences while supporting healthier and better-connected communities.

Beneficiaries

The Club’s goal is and always has been to raise as much money as we possibly can to help those who need help. A large part of the funds raised are donated to Lions Australia’s Funds and Foundations for:

Emergency and Disaster Relief
Childhood cancer research, Prostate Cancer research and general health research
Hunger Relief
Vision and Hearing programs
Diabetes Prevention
Infrastructure projects to create better communities

Lions Australia donates 100% of your donation, nothing is deducted to cover wages and administration expenses.

The Club also donates to local Schools, Western Moreton Health Foundation, Scouts, Rovers, Guides, SES Moggill and Ipswich, Queensland Brain Institute, Mens Shed and other beneficiaries.
